*** Byron earned US Olympic Funded athlete status in July 2004 when he was the cadet freestyle national runner-up.   He is only one of a few North Carolina wrestlers ever to be a funded athlete.   This allows him to have free room, board and training at the US Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.   To date Byron has trained at the OTC in April, June and July of 2005.  He will go to the Training Center again July 9th - July 16th 2006

Marquart took his third injury time out in the third period thus defaulting the match.  At the time Marquart was losing 6-2.

DeVilbiss was a graduated senior in this match.  He now wrestles for Oklahoma.

State 3rd Placer and NHSCA Junior National Champion Josh Patterson (New York).  This is the Cadet Greco-Roman match that determined All-American status in Fargo - July 2004

Patterson placed third at the New York state tournament in 2005.  In April of 2005 he was the NHSCA Junior National Champion at 160lbs

Giesen is a junior now.  He was a Cadet All-American in both Greco-Roman and Freestyle at Fargo in July 2004

Two-Time State Champion Tony Simmons (SC) in the finals of the WRAL high school tournament, December, 2004.
Byron Sigmon (Bandys) pinned Tony Simmons (Summerville, SC) 2nd period
Simmons was a senior in the match.  He is a Two-Time SC State Champion and his only loss this year was to Byron.

Two-Time Wisconsin State Champion Gabe Stoppelmoor in the quarter finals of the NHSCA Junior Nationals, March, 2005.
Byron Sigmon (NC) pinned Gabe Stoppelmoor (WI) 3rd period
Stoppelmoor was undefeated for the year in Wisconsin (42-0).


Match #8
Junior National Champion and Ohio State Runner-Up Josh Rohler in the semi finals of the NHSCA Junior Nationals.
Josh Rohler (OH) dec Byron Sigmon (NC) 7-6
In the Junior Nationals Byron wrestled bad in two matches losing to Rohler by one point in the semi finals and Alaska Three-Time State Champion David Wiese in the consolation finals, also losing by one point.

Two-Time Georgia State Champion Nate Carr, Jr. in the conslotion semi finals of the NHSCA Junior Nationals in March 2005
Byron Sigmon (NC) dec. Nate Carr (Ga) 3-1
Carr was 63-0 in Georgia this past season.  He is the son of Olympian Nate Carr, Sr.
