Former Bandys and current
UNC Greensboro wrestler Daren Burns captured third place honors at the Cliff King Invitational in Las Vegas, Nevada. This
tournament is considered one of the top regular season collegiate wrestling
tournament in the nation. It features 48
college teams from throughout the country and many of the country's top
collegiate wrestlers. The two-day
tournament was held November 30th and December 1st at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Burns lost his first match
of the tournament to Anthony Biondo of Michigan (5-4). He
then fought his way through consolations winning his next eight matches to
claim third place. One of the matches
was a 7-5 consolation Quarter-final re-match against Biondo. In the Consolation finals Burns Burns pinned
Jared Villars of West Virginia in 1:55. Burns
is a senior at UNC Greensboro and is currently the 9th ranked 197lb wrestler in
the country.
