Regional Seeding ?

Postby GOBIGRED » Sun Feb 12, 2012 9:33 am

I have not been able to get a strait answer on whether the wins or losses this past week in the state duals will affect the regional seedings or not. Some say they do and others say that nothing after 6am on this past Mon. will be used. Could someone that knows for sure or a regional director please give some insight on this and help answer the question of the week?

All Regional Seeding Information was due by Last Monday.

Not a single match this past week for State Duals counts or if a team wrestled a Tri that didn't qualify.

Let me rephrase that, the matches count, but not towards Regional Seeding.

Regional Seeding was done based on all matches thru last Saturday only.
“'Cause sometimes you just feel tired, Feel weak, and when you feel weak, you feel like you wanna just give up.
But you gotta search within you, you gotta find that inner strength And just pull it out of you and get that motivation to not give up And not be a quitter, no matter how bad you wanna just fall flat on your face and collapse. TIL I COLLAPSE!” – Eminem

Are they still doing the seeding by winning percentage only or do they consider strength of schedule?

Why don't they take into consideration the type of competition?Teams that wrestle at the Tiger,WRAL and the other tough tournaments are then penalized.A team that wrestles a cream puff schedule benifits in the seeding process. What is the objective in seeding then.

The seeding generally does not matter. You wrestle tough tournaments to prepare you for regional and states. Noone cares about records if you win state titles. I knew a guy who was 6th seed in his region and won a state championship.

The top 16 in each region make it. Very few wrestlers do not make region. If your record is 0-17, you might not make it in some weight classes. As long as you make top 16 in each region it does not matter. Everyone has to wrestle to get into states, no matter your seed.

Top 16 is not a big issue that I know of (now that 1A and 2A have been split up).

What happens if a returning state champ wrestles 4 matches and then is injured but is unable to wrestle until this past week.He wrestles 5 more matches but they don't count because all info had to be submitted by feb 4th.He then has to take 11 loses to get his record to 4 and 11,15 match minimum. Is he out of luck?

If 4-11 is not good enough to make the top 16, then yes, I am afraid he would be out of luck.
